CO2 Backbone & Infrastructure

Project Overview

CO2 Hub Europe is paving the way, in 3 phases, for a comprehensive CO2 backbone infrastructure that will connect Denmark and neighboring regions, enabling efficient CO2 transport and storage. This is essential to achieving large-scale decarbonization and supporting the European green transition.

01

Establishing the Business Case:

Assessing the need for CO2 transport infrastructure, regional and cross-border.

02

Developing market-driven CCS:

Developing regulatory and market frameworks to ensure financial and technical viability. Resulting in a long-term market-driven eco-system.

03

Preparing for investment (FID):

Finalizing the design, financing models, and agreements needed for the CO2 transport infrastructure's construction.

Workstreams

Our project progresses through six workstreams, including Market and Regulatory Analysis, Technical Feasibility, Ownership and Financing, and more, ensuring flexibility in response to evolving storage site decisions.

Cross-Border Collaboration

Denmark’s role as a CO2 hub relies on close collaboration with neighboring countries. Our cross-border infrastructure will enable industries across Europe to access affordable, efficient CO2 storage solutions in Denmark.
